The DMLL is working with the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust (SBT) to create an interactive platform that will be used as part of the Shakespeare Week activities that they organise for primary school children. The platform is hosted on MakeWaves, a digital badges platform aimed at children under the age of 13. We have collaborated with SBT and MakeWaves to develop a series of digital badges that will introduce primary school pupils to Shakespeare and Britain in his time. The site includes stories and activities designed to help teachers and pupils engage with Shakespeare in an age-appropriate and fun way.
How To Get Involved
The project is designed to support primary school teachers, home educators and anyone interested in learning more about Shakespeare and about Britain in Shakespeare’s time. There are activities from making hand puppets that look like Shakespeare, to learning new songs, creating cartoons and even baking bread. The digital badges are awarded to pupils who complete a series of tasks around a theme and are developed with specific key stages in mind but are open to all.
Digital Badges are awarded through issuing platforms and are portable in digital environments. School age students can upload their digital badges to a DigitalMe space supported by their school / learning environment.
Progress to Date
The project site will be live from the beginning of March 2017 and will remain open through the year.
Shakespeare Week is 20-26 March 2017.
The project will be evaluated and a report produced in the Summer of 2017.
