Coventry Students invited to JISC Elevator Open Mashup Day

Author: Kate Green   9th November 2015

A huge congratulations go to Martha, Samrawit, Farduus, Muna and Tamera whom have all been invited to JISC’s Open Data Mashup day next week. The event organised by Universities UK will give the students an amazing opportunity to meet influential people in the world of open data including Paul Maltby (Director, Open Data and Government Innovation, Cabinet Office); get inspiration from industry senior leaders; and, participate in workshops to challenge designers and develop the app ideas.

The sheer volume of open data is growing rapidly. While government is promoting this as an opportunity for innovation, commercial and public sector organisations are exploring ways to exploit this tidal wave of data. The higher education sector is clearly rich in data and Universities UK is working in partnership with the Open Data Institute and Jisc to promote a better understanding of open data and how universities can benefit from it.

Projects and Community Assistant Kate Green, who has supported both entries, will be accompanying the groups on 19th November on behalf of the Disruptive Media Learning Lab’s continuing support for the ideas.
