Diary of an Intern: Weeks 11 & 12 – The Effort Pays Off

Author: Tyrone Bellamy-Wood   21st September 2015

These past weeks have been the hardest I have worked in my life, the work done has been phenomenal, and in the brief quiet times I’ve manages to get a little respite! I can revel in some well earned self satisfaction, like seeing the result of months of effort.

I’ve spent a lot of time in a room with people involved in the ImparrApp project, debating details and trying to grind ideas together to make solid progress on what we had already. I had concerns about not having a prototype ready for testing, so spent two nights programming and refining to make a testable product.

It was hard at times, but all my work is really being appreciated, and if you have pride in something, and want to make it great and show your dedication, then there really is no price too little to invest in the future. This is what I expected and this is what I know will get these sections of work done to make it easier to work with at later points in the project, which is great.

In addition, I had a catch up with my course peers, people I would be sharing the classrooms with. I felt like a different person when sharing my summer experience with them as I like to think my summer was more enriching than some of theirs. Well, I can’t be too smug, some of them went on boat trips and road trips around America!

All in all, I walk into my next semester with experiences that will help me coast through the work involved for the course.
