On Friday, Alan Richards and myself took a trip to Earlsdon Library, Coventry. Loaded up with LEGO Mindstorm robotics kits, we kicked off a series of Code Club sessions the DMLL are helping run. The sessions are designed to allow children to explore and experiment with coding and robotics, inspiring the future generations to study the STEM subjects.
Around twenty children came along and had great fun controlling the robots. It was amazing how quickly they picked up the coding and managed to programme them to do everything from follow a black line, to turning around if they hit something. They even got busy pulling apart the robots to remove and upgrade the sensors.
If the next few sessions are anything like the one in Earlson, I’m sure Alan and myself will have a thoroughly enjoyable time.
