Dr Thomas Cochrane (a leading mobile learning researcher-practitioner) joined the DMLL from 14-25 September 2015, during which time he provided workshops and individual consultations focusing on: social/mobile media, augmented reality, mobile filmmaking and emerging pedagogies. Dr Thomas Cochrane is an Academic Advisor and Senior Lecturer in Educational Technology at Auckland University of Technology, New Zealand. His research interests include mobile learning, social media, international collaborations, communities of practice and new pedagogies.
Thomas has managed and implemented over 40 mobile learning projects, with a recent focus upon Android and iOS smartphones and the iPad as catalysts to enable student-generated content and student-generated learning contexts, bridging formal and informal learning environments.
